Biomimetic Electrodeless Redox-Flow Battery Starting from Galvani, bioelectrochemistry deals with the voltage generated by ion transport through ion-selective biological membranes. Contrary to this, starting from Volta, the voltage generated in batteries is based on electron transport and redox reactions on two electrodes separated by an ion-conducting electrolyte. I combined these two fundamental principles and invented the first-ever battery where a metal foil acts as an electron-selective membrane. Without traditional electrodes, this biomimetic battery in a flow-through modification, has several fundamental advantages. It has a much smaller weight, size, and cost. Easy to manufacture and assemble. Easy to charge and discharge in any kitchen without electricity. Just prepare aqueous solutions, pump through the battery, and go! It does not have expensive vanadium from China, and no explosive lithium (good for aviation). Clean energy, no CO2 emission. Especially attractive for marine applications, buses, and trucks. It may be used for energy storage. I patented the battery and made a prototype. It works! Should work for years! Video is available.
